“Crossing Over” - new single from Sarah Pagé and Patrick Graham (Littoral States)

Renowned instrumentalists from Montreal, harpist Sarah Pagé, and percussionist Patrick Graham unveil the second single and visualizer “Crossing Over” from their collaborative album Littoral States out on January 24th, 2025, via Envision Records. In promotion of the album, the duo are sharing more details about their upcoming tour early next year including an album release show in Montreal and stops in Ottawa and Vancouver.

Short and wistful, “Crossing Over”centres on Pagé’s aqueous harp melodies paired with spectral bells surfacing in the quieter moments. Thematically, the composition touches on passage and transition offering a window into the potent soundworlds built by this exciting pair. The subtle flourishes of Graham’s percussion, floating somewhere off in the distance, hint at profound depths within the duo’s gorgeous, multivalent music.
Littoral States is a shifting, reciprocal project that explores affinities beyond time, place, tradition and medium. Montreal musicians Sarah Pagé and Patrick Graham employ a unique array of instruments (including harp, bass koto, sarangi, waterphone, hamon, Nano Garden and electronics) to evoke abstracted textures from deep within the anthropocene. Working in close collaboration with Brussels-based visual artist Tamar Kasparian, the album hangs together as six interwoven sonic compositions accompanied by beautifully integrated artwork. The wordless music carries the listener through a series of heady atmospheres, balancing a sense of urgency with an open-ended reflexivity. Littoral States is rooted in a profound sense of affinity, awe and anguish for the natural world.
Littoral States comes out Friday, January 24, 2025 release via Envision Records.
